The modern Pentecostal’s stumbled at Acts 2:1-13 and literally fall flat on their faces when they get to Acts 2:14-21. We will begin our study of the words of God in this passage by looking at vs. 16. Peter begins in vs. 16 with, But this is that which was spoken by the prophet Joel;. “But this is that”, is a clear indication that Peter has left off answering a fool according to his folly in vs.15 and is addressing a completely different subject. Pentecostals and Charismatic alike jump off the track by assuming there is no time or possibly of other discourse between vs.15 and vs.16 that the Holy Ghost did not record for us. Nevertheless it will become abundantly clear, “But this is that” does not refer to the “known tongues” spoken by the Apostles in vs. 1-13.
When the Pentecostal teaches that this is that refers to what just happened in vs. 1-13 they take a bite of heresy that is hard to chew and swallow if one has any Biblical integrity at all. Let me explain.
LET US PRETEND FOR A MOMENT
Let us give the enemies of God’s words (AV1611) enough rope to hang themselves and cut them down before they choke to death on their own heresies. We will pretend with them for a moment that Acts 2:1-13 is the fulfillment of Joel 2:28-32 and see how things line up. We’ve pretended with them, NOW, its time to look at what the Bible says, not what we or anyone else thinks it means!
1. Acts 2:13 says no where that the Spirit was poured our on all flesh. This scripture says that 12o disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost, but only 12 spoke with known tongues to Jews present that day from every country under heaven where Jews dwelt.
2. The Spirit is not POURED OUT ON ALL FLESH in Acts 2 or anywhere else in the New Testament. Check it out.
3. Not one person is recorded as having any dreams in Acts 2. And the words “and they shall prophesy” are not in Joel 2:29. LOOK IT UP!!!!
4. You will not find any PILLARS OF SMOKE in Acts Chapter 2 or in Chapters 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and etc.
5. Where is the fulfillment of the DARK SUN and the BLOODY MOON in Acts 2 or anywhere else in the Book of Acts?
WHAT IS JOEL 2:28-32 SPEAKING ABOUT?
This prophesy in Joel concerns the deliverance in Mount Zion, where the temple was and in Jerusalem which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt. (Joel 2:32 and Rev. 11:8).
MORE TO COME ON THIS PASSAGE AS WELL AS THE REST OF ACTS CHAPTER 2. THANK YOU FOR STUDYING WITH ME. Acts 2:1-13 is on this post also.
