Acts. 20:24 …and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
Concerning Open-Air Evangelism I will tell you from my standpoint there are certainly differences in doctrine which are not major and would not justify not preaching with someone. Also there are some major issues that would justify not preaching with someone. I speak of issues that deal with eternity. Where Open-Air Evangelism is concerned, eternal salvation should be the main concern. What is required by God to be saved, and to stay saved is critical.
Herein is the key point about right division God’s words (AV1611) concerning street evangelism or any other work. The Gospel of the Kingdom as preached by Jesus Christ and the disciples is absolutely not even remotely the same as the Gospel of the Grace of God, which is our Gospel and the one we are to follow in the Church Age (Acts 20:24). This point is critical and the confusing of the two gospels; each for a specific dispensation (period of time); can certainly affect one’s eternal destiny. Confusion about these two different gospels for two different dispensations is also at the heart of the continual ridiculing of Eternal Security, which I firmly believe and am constantly bashed over.
People fail to see that Eternal Security is a part of Church Age Doctrine as taught in the Pauline epistles, which are written doctrinally to us in the Church Age. We are Supernaturally Born Again, put into the Body of Christ, Spiritually Circumcised, Adopted into the Family of God, and have our sins “Cleared” not just “Forgiven”, which is to say “Redeemed” not just “Remitted”.
None of these things are true of an Old Testament Saint. No man was, or could be “Born Again” before the Crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
Heb.9:16-17 ” For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.”
Without the New Birth they were in a totally different situation than we are in the Church Age. This is the source of all the confusion. If men are preaching TWO DIFFERENT GOSPELS that is a critical difference and NO small matter. God is the one who Commanded us to Rightly Divide his word. I am only being obedient to that command. I have no axe to grind. I wish no man any ill will. Getting the Book right and Preaching the right Gospel are of the Utmost Importance. And yes, there are men on both sides of the issue who could and should be more longsuffering. But beyond that fact, is God’s Blessed Book and the huge responsibility we all have to rightly divide it and Preach the Truth.
