Part 1 – SPEAKING IN TONGUES, IS IT BIBLICAL?

My writings here on Ezekiel3; though saturated with Biblical truths; are many times loud, bold, and intrusive while trying to get your attention and shock you out of your unbelief.  But,  in this series of posts about the subject of “Speaking in Tongues”  I will be much less brash, attempting to persuade you the reader, to study this subject with me in the next few posts.

In this Bible study on the subject of “Speaking in Unknown Tongues”,  you will be asked to only say what the Scriptures say as found in the AV1611 Holy Bible.  We will make a sincere attempt to help you rightly divide the word of truth as commanded in the same Scriptures we are studying.

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2Tim. 2:15

With that in mind, let us start where most Charismatics and Pentecostals start, in Acts chapter 2.

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.  And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.   And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. vs. 1-3

Notice the words “as of”.  There was no literal wind and no fire, just a sound from heaven compared to the sound of a rushing wind, and no literal fire, just something that looked like fire.  With that said, there was no “baptism of fire” that Jesus spoke of in Matthew 3: 11-12, and that thankfully, because the Lord was speaking of Hell when he spoke of the baptism of fire.  The baptisms spoken of in Mathew 3 were two very different baptisms.  Study it carefully.

And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. vs.4

Notice the Scripture says other tongues, not un-known tongues.  We should only say what the Bible says.  The Bible says OTHER TONGUES, not un-known tongues.  Following is Scripture to prove what I just said.

And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.   Now when this was  noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.   And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?   And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?  Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia,   Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews anincomprehensible sounds d proselytes,   Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God. vs.5-11

Did you see that?  Representatives from every nation that Jews dwelt in.  The disciples were speaking the wonderful works of God, NOT the confusing, incomprehensible sounds coming from those claiming to speak in an un-known tongue.  Note!, no interpreter, yet everyone understood what was being said.

WE WILL CONTINUE TO UNRAVEL THE CHAOS IN PART 2

About Bro. Ray McIntire

EZEKIEL 3 is extremely salty and has not lost any savor found in the AV1611 Holy Bible. If you are looking for compromise, this site is not for you! This site's objective is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ and to destroy false doctrines and expose false teachers. EZEKIEL3 makes no apologies to anyone who opposes the Gospel of Jesus Christ, "Christian" or otherwise. Deal with it!
